Donation of Artworks to the Sveta Petka Monastery

1. 11. 2021.

The Sveta Petka Monastery in Petkovica near Šabac (Eparchy of Šabac) received a significant gift for this year’s patron-saint feast: two nineteenth-century artistic depictions of the monastery. On 22 October, our Very Worshipful Brother Velimir-Bata Žugić presented to the abbess and the sisterhood of this monastery two drawings of the monastery dating from 1890. The ink drawings were made by the renowned Serbian painter and art teacher Vladislav Titelbah (1847–1925).

According to the certificates issued by Mr Nikola Kusovac, these drawings have the status of cultural property. The artworks from this donation also carry historical significance, being a document of the construction of the monastery church as well as a story of a bygone age.

The photographs show one of these drawings and a group photograph with the sisterhood. (Photos: Fotomarkoni).
