A delegation of the Lodge “Svetlost Balkana – Garibaldi” took part in the work of the IX World Conference of Garibaldi Lodges from 4 to 7 October 2018 in Sofia. On behalf of the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia (RGLS), the delegation was led by Bro. Zdenko Tojčić, Deputy Most Worshipful Grand Master of the RGLS.
The organizer of the Conference, and of all its accompanying activities, was the Bulgarian Lodge “Vojvoda Petko – Garibaldinac” and its Master, Very Worshipful Bro. Mitko Solakov, with significant support from the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria.
The conference was attended by delegations of Garibaldi Lodges from Italy, France, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Brazil, Australia, New York, Illinois, Malta and the Czech Republic, either directly with their members or through their representatives.
At the plenary session of the Conference, whose theme was “The Chain of Freedom”, our Bro. Velimir-Bata Žugić read his paper (by invitation): “Freedom for all people”.
At this year’s Conference, the proposal to establish a system of internal governance for the activities of the World Conference of Garibaldi Lodges was accepted. Our Lodge “Svetlost Balkana – Garibaldi” was awarded two international functions:
1. A seat as a permanent member of the international committee of the Conference (Bro. M.E.)
2. The position of Honorary President (Ad vitam) of the World Conference of Garibaldi Lodges (Bro. V.B.Ž.)
These are significant functions within the framework of international Masonic relations. At the same time, it is important to note that all the activities of our Lodges contribute to the overall standing of the RGLS on the international stage.
