The international Masonic conference “The Future of Humanity and the System of Masonic Values”, under the patronage of the United Grand Lodge of Bulgaria (UGLB), was held in Sofia on 1 November 2014. The conference is traditionally held every two years. This year too it brought together Brethren from numerous Bulgarian Lodges, Brethren from the region, and representatives of the RGLS. At the conference, the Brethren presented their papers and took part in panel discussions.
The representatives of the RGLS at this conference were Very Worshipful Deputy Grand Master Bro. L.R. and Very Worshipful Bro. V.B.Ž., whose papers were among the keynote presentations. The Grand Master of the UGLB, Bro. Ivan Sariev, also took an active part in the conference, as did a large number of Grand Officers of the UGLB.
During the conference, the Brethren of the UGLB organized two exceptional events. The first was connected with the twinning of our Lodge “Singidunum” and the Bulgarian Lodge “Svetlina 94” from Sofia. This event of twinning two Lodges from fraternal Obediences left a particular impression on all present.
The second event was the holding of the now traditional conference “Fathers and Sons”, organized by the Lodge “Sveti Jovan” (St John) from Sofia. This year the conference had the thematic title “The Prodigal Son” and brought together Brethren from a large number of Bulgarian Lodges, as well as guests from abroad. At the conference, the paper by our Bro. Bata Žugić entitled “Why do fathers forgive?” was presented.
After attending and actively participating in the work of two international conferences at the UGLB in Sofia, one can note the need and interest of the Brethren for constant cooperation and greater mutual connection, both across different Obediences and within our region.
